Kingston Life
Fall 2007 An excerpt from: In Person With…Community Leaders tell all (well, almost) about what makes them tick By Ken Cuthbertson Photography by Bernard Clark
Do you sing in the shower? Have you ever eaten chocolate icing right out of the container (with or without a spoon)? Do you sleep in the nude? Movie critic and gossip columnist Rex Reed once put the latter question to movie star Ava Gardner in an interview. In fact, he also published a bestselling book in 1968 with that as the title. Reed was trying to be cheeky, of course. But there was also a point to his query. They say it’s the details – the mundane, everyday stuff – that give you real insight into a person’s character. Kingston Life thought it would be fun to put that notion to the test. So we asked 13 of our city’s community leaders a series of questions bout their personal tastes, preference, opinions and life expectations. But no, we didn’t ask, “Do you sleep in the nude”? (although the replies would have been interesting). Even so, the answers to our questions do offer some revealing insights into the personalities of our respondents. By agreeing to be involved, each and every one of these folds also provide to be a good sport. Following are some of the answers we received from eight of the 13 men and women we spoke with. For all the answers from all 13 personalities, visit www.kingstonlife.ca. And now, on with the questions!
