When we founded Kincore Holdings Ltd. in 1997, we commenced with a 20-year plan to build a portfolio of high quality income-producing assets. As we pass the midway point , we can’t help but feel as if we’re standing at the crossroads of the past and the future.
It’s an appropriate place for us to be. The relationship between past and future is a theme we’ve often contemplated over the last 10 years.
To date, we’ve pursued our goal by acquiring vacant or under-utilized properties and revitalizing these existing buildings, while completing planning and design work for new projects on the vacant lands we’ve assembled.
We’ve acquired heritage buildings in Kingston’s historic downtown core and modern commercial buildings throughout the city. We are grateful for the acceptance that these projects have received in the community.
When we look ahead to the second half of our 20-year horizon, we’re excited by the opportunities that await us. While our portfolio currently reflects Kingston’s past and present, we’re ready to move into the future by bringing new development to the marketplace. Our team --including our talented, dedicated staff and many professional design and construction consultants -- is working to make this dream a reality. Rising construction costs pose a challenge, but we are all committed to finding our way forward.
Kincore will continue to embrace the priorities which have guided us for the last 10 years. We will continue to support the growth of the downtown core as it evolves into a vibrant, beating heart of our community and region.
We will also continue to support efforts to strengthen the community at large, as we believe that our investments will flourish in a stronger community. We are proud of the investment that our company -- and each of our staff members -- continues to make in our community, whether by donating money or time and expertise. Like all businesses today, we’re challenged by continual requests for support from a range of worthwhile causes. We’ve responded to this challenge by developing a focused giving strategy, which we have outlined in the Community Projects section of this website.
In the years ahead, we will continue to honour our commitment to Kingston, respecting the past -- which we see as the foundation of our company – and embracing a future full of the opportunities that our competitive marketplace affords us all. We will continue to focus on success, both for our shareholders and the community at large.
Warm regards,
Wm. Kim Donovan, President
