The Gourdier Building is located on lower Brock Street, a fascinating part of Kingston that appears in the original town survey. The area’s proximity to the Market meant early residential and commercial development.
Registered ownership of 78 Brock Street dates back to 1855. The 1891-92 registry indicates that a "pork butcher" operated from the premises. In 1901, the property was sold to Louis Gourdier and by 1906, records indicate William Gourdier Furrier occupied 78 and 80 Brock Street.
Gourdier Furrier owned and occupied the property until shortly before it was sold to Kincore Holdings Limited in 1998. Kincore decided to fully renovate the property, taking great care to preserve the heritage of the building. The property was converted to a mixed-use development, with a quality retailer on the ground floor and two high-end, two-level loft suites above.
Both residential units boast spectacular views of Kingston from private rooftop decks. Each suite is a two-level unit featuring exposed brick and limestone, hardwood floors, a gas fireplace, a fully equipped premium kitchen, stainless steel appliances, ensuite laundry, central air conditioning, a master bedroom ensuite and a cathedral ceiling. The Gourdier Lofts offer the charm and character of a heritage building and all the amenities of downtown living.
